Ergonomics – Barrel Sauna Comfort

When investing in an outdoor sauna barrel, bathing comfort is essential. Key factors include barrel diameter, bench configuration, and backrest design. Smaller-diameter barrels may be less expensive due to reduced material usage, but they can compromise door height, seating comfort, and headroom. A tighter barrel curve may also affect seating posture, limit upright standing, and require bending when entering or exiting.

The ERGO Series Sauna Barrels feature a 6’5” interior height. Thanks to the larger diameter, the benches are ergonomically contoured for improved comfort and support. The wider barrel shape allows for an expanded curved backrest that delivers true lumbar support. Comfort is further enhanced with knot-free, silky-smooth grade-A Thermo-Aspen seating material designed to accommodate most body sizes.

Thermo-Spruce lasts up to 2X longer than Cedar wood. Each SaunaLife barrel is constructed with industry-leading 1.65” thick full-length staves that provide excellent thermal resistance (R-value). This eco-friendly, chemical-free wood is dimensionally stable and ideal for outdoor sauna use.

Thickness is a key feature of the ERGO Series, including Thermo-Aspen benches and backrests (1.1” thick and 3-1/2” wide), nearly 50% thicker than standard designs for improved durability and comfort.

Ingenuity – Engineered to exceed expectations

Although simple in appearance and installation, the ERGO-Series integrates advanced engineering features. These outdoor sauna barrels are designed to handle water exposure efficiently. Construction begins with heavy-duty 1-7/8” wide and 1/8” thick stainless steel barrel bands that tightly compress the staves to form a secure structure.

A watertight DIY shingle kit with side-mounted drip edges ensures effective rainwater management. Inside, dual floor drains are included—one under the sauna heater for water use and another near the door for cold plunge or pool water drainage. Even if the barrel shifts slightly out of level, the dual drain system maintains proper water flow.

Illumination – Inside and out

Lighting enhances both atmosphere and design. Only low-voltage, waterproof LED systems are used. SaunaLife provides a white LED lighting system with Wi-Fi app control, allowing users to set the ideal ambiance before entering. A handheld remote is also included for on/off and dimming control.

The system is heat- and water-rated (IP67) and delivers a smooth, dotless glow. It is expandable up to four white fixtures. The optional E Sconce+ Package adds two exterior LED wall sconces and an interior LED light bar, while the E MOOD Lighting Package offers full-color lighting effects for enhanced sauna ambiance.

SaunaLife uses premium Nordic Spruce, dried to a golden finish that highlights its natural grain and rustic tight-knot character. The interior features Thermo-Aspen benches and backrests that are smooth, knot-free, and rich in natural tone.
